Ride the Hatfield McCoy Trails

One of the longest off road trails in the US; Hatfield McCoy Trails is an eight-trail system that is open year-around to ATVs, UTVs and dirt bikes, that’s appropriately called “Trail Heaven.” With routes for novices to more advanced riders, make sure to stop by Twin Falls Resort State Park, a hidden gem perfect a picnic lunch, some hiking (they have 26 miles of trails!), or a visit to the restored farmhouse.

The largest lake in West Virginia, Summersville Lake has over 60 miles of shoreline. The sandstone cliffs and crystal clear water have earned it the nickname “Little Bahamas of the East.” There are tons of watersports in the area from SUP, kayaking and swimming to cliff jumping and diving, depending on your need for adrenaline.


A multi-stop waterfall tour

Take a scenic road trip around Southern West Virginia and stop at several waterfalls and the old railroad town of Hinton, a national historic district. Sandstone Falls has an impressive 25-foot drop, which is just a few miles from Brooks Falls, another favorite photo spot.


See the most photographed spot in the state

Babcock State Park is home to the historic Glade Creek Grist Mill, and one could easily spend a few hours or even a few days exploring all 4,000 acres. Pack up the family and rent one of the cabins for weekend getaway filled with kayak adventures, horseback riding, history, and more waterfalls.


Raft the Mighty Rivers

Known for having some of the best whitewater rafting in the world, West Virginia is home to two strong rivers full of rapids and currents, the New and Gauley. The Gauley River has over 100 twists and turns on its course suitable for all experience levels, perfect for a family or adventure trip.
