Hunger grows for southern soul food in Canadian border town

Weatherspoon recently opened a soul food restaurant — a sort of cuisine not easy to arrive by in Windsor.

He reported he was amazed by that when he used to go to Windsor from Detroit.

For several years, Weatherspoon had been cooking at pop-up locations, but now, he has a long-lasting cafe.

For Weatherspoon, the definition of soul food is uncomplicated.

“Soul foodstuff is convenience foodstuff,” he stated. “It is really all about household. Rising up as a kid in Detroit, we experienced all my cousins appear in excess of. Everybody would get jointly and my mother would cook.”

Weatherspoon’s mom remains an inspiration to his culinary enthusiasm.

Weatherspoon claimed a very good part of his clientele is Us residents crossing the border, or Us residents who now are living in Canada.

Weatherspoon said his meals isn’t really just for Black Americans and Canadians, it’s a delicacies that over time he’s hoping to share with all.
